Converting Policy into Action

Indus Action has been working on enabling sustainable access to welfare rights for disadvantaged families through organizing and convening social leaders, consulting and diagnosing key issues and problems, and research. Its vision is to enable 2.5 million vulnerable people to access legislated rights. Working across three key areas of the Right to Education (reservation in unaided classrooms), Right to Food and Right (maternity benefits) to Livelihood (MGNREGA and BoCW and Street Vendors Act for livelihood protection with minimum welfare benefits), Indus Action aims to protect households in all three fronts.

What excites us about their work:

  • Focus is to ensure the implementation of key Fundamental Rights across regions by using technology, research and campaigning.
  • To build policy implementation by bridging the gap between law and action at scale by working with citizens and government.
  • The implementation model actively guides practitioners by strengthening capacity, training in implementation toolkits and guiding with technology and data capacity.
