Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology (ATREE) is one of the top 20 environmental think
tanks globally and a global non-profit which generates interdisciplinary knowledge to inform
policy and practice towards conservation and sustainability. ATREE’s Regional Initiatives work
closely with local communities to generate knowledge and contribute solutions that are pertinent
to and usable by them to not only improve livelihoods but also to preserve the environment.
ATREE integrates research with policy in two central thematic areas: biodiversity and
conservation, and environment and development.
What excites us about their work:
- Working in the area of interdisciplinary research in the critical area of conservation and sustainability by strengthening institutions, and training stakeholders across different domains.
- Generating interdisciplinary knowledge to enable policy makers and society and next generation environmental leaders in areas of biodiversity, conservation, climate change mitigation
- Spread across different locations that nest a variety of interlinked programmes ranging from practice research to policy issues.
- Engagement at the grassroot level to implement intervention.
