PARI is a live journal and archive of India’s rural countryside, documenting its diverse languages, arts, craft, culture and practices. They produce a database of published stories, reports, videos and audios from sources around the country via a Creative Commons model. This model is curated and recorded on the Pari website, while respecting the ownership of the people they show us: the lives and livelihoods of poor everyday Indians. They invite people to send in such material and contribute to the website.
Why are they the right choice for others:
- Creating a vast public resource of richly indexed stories in different formats to record and archive India’s changing rural countryside
- Create informative and lively resources for educators around the country
- Aggregating all reports and studies on rural India from various stakeholders, from the government to independent research
- Producing this information at scale, using the technologies of the web to disseminate widely free to access material
- Inviting public participation towards creating stories with rich and ethical guidelines on how to create storytelling with consent and respect
