Narayana Health has launched Ayana, a mobile mammography unit for breast cancer screening, which is an initiative that hopes to reach remote areas in Karnataka to screen for breast cancer and educate for early detection. The mobile unit includes a mammography machine and CR system to digitise and scan images, uploading the information to the Naryana Health City’s central centre for quick interpretation by radiologists. The work also includes a television that plays awareness videos. This is part of a larger endeavour to reach remote rural locations and provide medical screenings. With breast cancer on the rise, and the most prevalent cancer among Indian women, and with the sixth highest incidence in Karnataka, early detection is imperative.
