Building blocks of change

PRADAN is founded on the belief that people can drive the change they need, no matter what their social location. They work with the poorest regions of India to help vulnerable communities organise collectives to help people, especially women, earn a decent living to support their families, and access programmes and entitlements from the government as citizens. They recruit well-educated young professionals from different fields such as management, engineering, agriculture, and the social sciences, who work with people in the poorest villages to bring technical expertise to help communities develop their own skills and initiatives. They partner with civil society organisations and government to influence development policies, and assist communities to learn how to build livelihoods and access solutions. PRADAN works around food security, managing natural resources, livelihoods, market linkages, governance and social mobilisation.

Why they are the right choice for others:

  • PRADAN works across scale in 7 states to bring a team of professionals to connect with communities to help them evolve their own strategies for change.
  • Help empower communities seek the action and changes they wish to drive through professional and technical support, rather than working through a provisional approach to entitlement and rights
  • A scale driven model to work with more than 1 million families, working with governments and civil society organisations at local, state and national levels
  • Working with 3000 professionals who are mentored and trained to facilitate change rather than drive it.
