Giving a woman her best defense

Swayam offers Direct Support Services to women survivors of violence including counselling, legal aid and advice, police follow up, vocational training and referrals for shelter and employment. They have a programme for Prevention Strategies to work on awareness building and public education by building creative resources, knowledge exchange, and capacity building. Through theatre, magazines, film screenings and group activities, they work to build confidence and awareness in individual women to become change makers in their communities.

Why are they the right choice to support:

  • Work in the critical area of women survivors of violence by providing immediate SOS interventions for individual support with critical care in areas of safety, housing and the law by building a sustained network.
  • Creating a network of women survivors to help build confidence, awareness and networks of community support and sustained forms of vocational training, educational awareness and livelihood opportunities to ensure that the individual survivor is not isolated.
  • Creating sustained social campaigns to build awareness and advocacy around women survivors of domestic violence and to build collective action at the social and policy level
  • Work on capacity building and institutional change in conjunction with support for individuals and groups of women survivors who are empowered to lead the change.
