Access to Justice
Enabling a Just Society
iProbono India is a social justice organisation that combines the legal expertise of its community of lawyers, the lived realities shared by grassroots partners, and the power of social action litigation to advance justice and equality across India. Its work spans child rights, disability justice, housing and land rights, criminal justice, and strengthening civil society. Through a combination of legal representation, holistic support, research and policy advocacy, capacity building, and storytelling, iProbono India not only addresses individual cases but pushes for systemic change.
At its core, it is building a more accessible legal ecosystem, one where people understand their rights, can act on them, and are supported in their pursuit of justice.
What excites us about their work:
- A model for empowering civil society in legal arenas by using the existing capacities of lawyers;
- Uses individual cases to identify systemic issues and create class-based relief;
- Provides comprehensive care to vulnerable individuals, through the combined efforts of lawyers, social workers and mental health professionals;
- Utilises a variety of tools, varying from litigation to data studies to advocacy with high level state and judicial bodies, to bring about necessary changes in the law and its implementation.
