Access to quality legal information and education to underprivileged communities
IDIA started out as a student run movement in 2010. Now a registered trust, it DIA strives to provide access to quality legal information and education to underprivileged and under-represented communities with the aim of empowering them to help themselves and their communities. It runs with 600+ volunteers from leading law universities in India, who travel across the country to sensitise underprivileged students about the power of the law and the careers possible. They offer scholarships to students who join law schools, and encourages them on graduating to become ‘creative, holistic, altruistic and maverick problemsolvers’ (CHAMPS).
Why are they the right choice for others:
- Work with underprivileged students to offer them financial support and mentoring to gain greater opportunities for a career in the law
- Encourages young law students and lawyers to work on problems in the communities, to contribute with their skills in creative ways
- Works on legal information and access to legal education at scale
