The India Justice Report is an endeavour that ranks the capacity of states to deliver justice via the police, judiciary, prisons and legal aid. It is the effort of numerous organisations working to improve the justice system. It uses government data to assess the budgets, infrastructure, human resources, workloads, diversity and 5 year trends of police, prisons, judiciary and legal aid in each state, against its own declared standards. Some aspects drill down on police force training, diversity in police staff, pending court cases, and undertrial prisoners. This work is done in partnership between Centre for Social Justice, Common Cause, Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative(CHRI), DAKSH, TISS-Prayas and Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy.
