iProbono enables organisations and citizens to network directly with people around the world who have the legal ability and drive to help them with legal matters. It enables people to access their rights by representing them with probono legal assistance. iProbono creates a network of lawyers to NGOs, charities, social enterprises, organisations, and the lawyers use their knowledge and resources to work for the public good. Other parts of their work includes capacity building support to organisations to strengthen civil society and helping civil society organisations comply with legislation and access legal advice. iProbono’s objectives through storytelling are to narrate compelling stories which generate empathy and to promote free media and reclaim democratic space in society and create a safe space for storytellers.
What excites us about their work:
- A model for empowering civil society in legal arenas by using the existing capacities of lawyers through the idea of probono moral service to society;
- Helps create a network of legal assistance for people in need while advocating for equal justice through building awareness
- Create knowledge resources for individuals and civil society actors to understand legalese and demystifying legal terminologies.
- Uses individual cases to create class-based relief
