Justice Initiative Foundation is a community of like minded individuals with a shared passion for issues of justice who work with the criminal justice system in India and people who have been in conflict with the law. They work to tell stories with different forms of narrative — poems, prose, plays — to talk about people who are imprisoned, who are often distrusted or maligned in mainstream media. They are building a community of people who have served prison sentences who are rebuilding their families, offering them a space to go through the journey together.
Why are they the right choice for others:
- Rewriting narratives for people who have been imprisoned to create a realistic and gentle picture of their difficulties and lives
- Offering a holding space for people who have been released from prison to reintegrate into communities in a healthy and safe manner.
- Using creative expressions and narratives to change the lives of convicts in prisons and outside.
- A view into justice that is about the prisoners in the system, and their right to dignity.
